Welcome to the Brahma Kumaris
In a world searching for peace and meaning, the Brahma Kumaris offer a path of self-discovery, inner strength, and universal harmony. Welcome to a global family of spiritual seekers dedicated to creating a world filled with peace, purity, and positivity. Step into this journey where the soul awakens, and life transforms.
A Global Presence
The Brahma Kumaris is a worldwide spiritual organization with over 8,000 branches spread across more than 130 countries. Its roots go back to the 1930s, when Dada Lekhraj, a respected diamond merchant from Hyderabad, Sindh (now in Pakistan), began receiving profound visions of a world transformed into a peaceful, divine civilization.
In 1937, guided by these revelations, he established a spiritual community dedicated to exploring and sharing divine wisdom. He later became known as Prajapita Brahma. Through him, it is believed that God—referred to as Shiv Baba—began to convey spiritual knowledge. After the Partition of India in 1947, the organization moved its headquarters to Mount Abu, a serene hill station in Rajasthan, India. From this peaceful sanctuary, the Brahma Kumaris continues its mission of spreading peace, self-transformation, and universal brotherhood worldwide.
Not a Religion, But a Way of Life
The Brahma Kumaris is not a religion, but rather an art of living that transcends religious boundaries. The core teachings emphasize:
-
Meditation as the foundation for a peaceful life.
-
True knowledge expressed through attitude and actions.
-
Generosity and goodness as magnets for abundance.
Our motto: “Be good, do good.”
How the Brahma Kumaris Can Transform Your Life
The Brahma Kumaris is a selfless community, offering timeless wisdom for a values-based life. With the Supreme as our guiding light, countless individuals experience positivity and success by living these teachings daily.
Why the Brahma Kumaris is Honoured Globally
The organization is respected worldwide for the pure and positive vibrations its members radiate. These uplifting energies come from a direct connection with the Divine through meditation. We live by the belief: “Honour is received when we honour others.”
Who Was Brahma Baba?
Dada Lekhraj, born in 1876 in Hyderabad, Sindh, came from a devout family and began his career as a diamond merchant. Always seeking spiritual depth, he studied under many teachers. Around age 60, during a satsang, he experienced life-changing visions of God and the world’s transformation.
These revelations led him to first transform himself, and then share this wisdom with the world. As the medium for God’s teachings, he inspired countless souls to adopt a life of purity and spiritual strength. He left his physical body at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and service.
Understanding God: The Supreme Soul
Brahma Baba was not God, but a divine instrument. God, known to us as Shiv Baba, is the incorporeal Supreme Being—the Ocean of Love, the Supreme Intellect, the Almighty Authority, the Comforter of Hearts, the Ever-Living Being, and the Blissful One.
The Brahma Kumaris is not a community of idol worshippers, but a family of souls striving to become living ideals by connecting directly with God through meditation.
Respect for All Religions
The Brahma Kumaris deeply respects the teachings and values of all religions. We recognize God as the universal Father of all souls and embrace humanity as one global family, united in diversity.
Science and Spirituality: A Beautiful Blend
The Brahma Kumaris harmoniously blends scientific tools with spiritual wisdom. While science brings comfort to our physical lives, spirituality nurtures our inner stability, especially during life’s challenges.

The Knowledge of the Self
Every soul plays a unique role on this grand world stage. The body is just a temporary costume; the soul within is eternal. Most suffering arises from identifying too closely with the body, losing sight of our true spiritual identity.
The Philosophy of Karma
Our actions shape our destiny. Karma determines the circumstances we experience. For example, a man blind from birth, though kind-hearted, was discovered through spiritual understanding to have been an executioner in a past life, blinding others as punishment. This teaches us that justice must be carried out not with personal interest but as an instrument of truth.
The Power of Meditation
Meditation is medicine for the soul. While spiritual knowledge nourishes the mind, meditation empowers the soul. It uplifts, builds inner strength, nurtures positivity, and illuminates the path to success.
Becoming a Brahma Kumar or Brahma Kumari
Becoming a Brahma Kumar or Kumari begins with a mindset of universal brotherhood, generosity, and positivity. Staying connected to the Supreme through meditation and living these values daily makes you part of this spiritual family. While some choose to dedicate their lives fully, you can live these teachings wherever you are, in whatever role you play.
